Enhancing the Benefits of Mathematical Analysis in Flood Hydrology and Industry Modelling
- Date: Expected December 2026
- Location: TBD
Summary
A workshop uniting mathematicians and hydrological modellers to explore how theoretical analysis can provide insight into rainfall-runoff models, examining whether the mathematical basis of physics-based modelling approaches can be compared with the broad category of conceptual models. The event aims to build a network of contacts between hydrological modellers, model users and mathematicians, produce an overview of hydrological modelling challenges and relevant analytical techniques, generate seed ideas for future proposals, and produce a joint announcement highlighting key challenges — complemented by individual research visits from leading academics across the UK during the themed semester.
