Utopian Thinking Workshop
- Date: 9:30-13:00 on 15 October 2026 (followed by lunch)
- Location: 4 West 1.7 (Wolfson Lecture Theatre)
Summary
In the face of a planetary crisis, many of us experience a growing tension between the realities of climate breakdown and social decoherence, a deep yearning to do something meaningful about them, and the business as usual of our work.
In this workshop we’ll step out of this business as usual for half a day to:
- take an honest look at the mess we’re in,
- identify constraints that prevent adaptive responses to it,
- imagine practical utopias that ignore, contradict or dissolve these constraints, and
- explore our contributions to these utopias as adjacent possibles – next steps on our individual paths through possibility space.
We will make sense, develop ideas, and gear up for action together – to turn the tension we experience into a source of energy and creativity.
